off the A39 (signposted Morwenstow 3) approx. three miles north of Kilkhampton; follow signs to Morwenstow Church and then Bush Inn, at the end of a single-track lane to the cliffs, just off the coastal path. Parts of the building date back to AD 950, when it was a chapel for Celtic hermits.
Nearby is Morwenstow Church, known for its eccentric Victorian vicar, Robert Stephen Hawker; in the churchyard is the buried crew of a shipwreck with the ship’s figurehead as a grave marker
